KOCT Television is a non-profit, live stream PEG access outlet partially funded by the city of Oceanside & powered by Cox Cable. Programming the issues that directly impact our everyday life, KOCT keeps locals well-informed & actively engaged with the latest Oceanside news, providing a continual voice for the North County community.

Oceanside International Film Festival "Special Event": 'The Opener' Premiere
On August 2nd 2025, the OIFF held a screening at the Star Theatre for the independent short film, produced by Jason Mraz, titled The Opener. The film depicts the story of how young muscian, Philip Labes, was discovered by Jason Mraz & managed to open for Mraz while on tour. The event consisted of a gathering in the lobby before the film premiere followed by not only a short Q&A with Mraz, Labes, Jeff Toye, the film's director & Sunya Mara its producer, but also a short performance from both of the artists.

KOCT's 'Oceanside Spectrum'
Oceanside Spectrum is a video series and TV program produced by KOCT TV. The show features in-depth interviews with local organizations, hosts discussions on community issues, and highlights arts & culture in the Oceanside area.
Role(s): Camera & Teleprompter Operator: Spectrum is one of our monthly shows, and as a utility, my role can change depending on what is needed for that month's shoot. We have a host camera with a teleprompter, a wide camera, a guest camera, a camera on a jib, & a roaming camera on a monopod. I am accustomed to performing all of these roles, even multiple at the same time such as the jib, teleprompter & host cam.

KOCT's 'Oceanside Update'
Oceanside Update is another monthly program produced by KOCT that highlights local Oceanside organizations, events, news, and services, giving them an opportunity to share information and promote events. Organizations include the Oceanside Public Library, MainStreet Oceanside, as well as the Oceanside Police & Fire Department. 
Role(s): Camera & Teleprompter Op and Sound Engineer: Update is a very simple show consisting of a stationary camera with a teleprompter and 1-2 shotgun mics running to a multitrack recorder. While I acted as sound engineer early on in my career with KOCT, but more recently I mainly operate the camera & teleprompter.

KOCT's 'O'Side De-Mystified with Rick Robinson'
O'Side De-Mystified with Rick Robinson is a KOCT show that operates similar to a podcast. Our host, District 2 Council Member Rick Robinson, sits down with guests from local Oceanside organizations to talk about a singular topic related to the guest's organization.
Role(s): Camera Operator

KOCT Presents: Oceanside Lifeguard Beach Safety PSAs
On July 29th 2025, KOCT partnered with the Oceanside Lifeguard Service to shoot a PSA for the O'Side locals that shows them how to have a safe day at the beach.

Oceanside Independence Parade 2025
About a week before the fourth of July, on June 28th 2025, KOCT had the privilege to cover the annual Oceanside Independence Parade. I was on the roof recording arial footage of the floats.

Oceanside Election Forums 2024
In 2024 KOCT hosted several local Oceanside election forums. Three forums were held at the Veterans Association of North County & one was held in our home studio, I was present for all four. 
Role(s): 2nd Technical Director & G&E: For this shoot I worked as the 2nd Technical Director, in charge of creating and bringing in our lower third graphics that would show up on the livestream.

KOCT Sports 2024: 'Friday Night Lights: Oceanside High School vs El Camino High School'
KOCT tends to cover a lot of local sports, typically high school sports. On this shoot we covered the epic rivalry between El Camino High School Varsity Football team vs Oceanside High School's team.
Role(s): 2nd Technical Director & G&E: For this shoot I worked as the 2nd Technical Director again and I also worked in the Grip & Electric departments helping to wire the cameras and audio equipment down to the field. During high school broadcasts, announcers in the press box use broadcast headsets connected through our audio system. We run reels of XLR cables from the truck to receivers to capture audio from sideline microphones, and manage audio levels  inside the truck. There was also a moment near the very end of the game where are 1st Technical Director needed to leave the streaming truck to solve an issue with the broadcast. I took over being the switcher using the Tricaster and was able to capture the winning touchdown of a neck-and-neck game.
